Dining in Hollywood
Your editor admits that he is not sophisticated. Even so, we strive, occasionally, to fulfill the "fine living" portion of our charter. While we are an expert at art marketing, we freely admit being novices when it comes to fine food and wine, but oh how we do like to eat and drink...
While staying in Hollywood, FL, we dined at a small restaurant on the beach called Sugar Reef....we can't recommend it highly enough....assuming you visit the south Florida area. The grilled salmon is magnifico...possibly the best we've ever had.
More exciting however is the discovery of a new wine. We had the Lan Zur 2005 Cabernet. It is a Chilean wine and we must say, it is fruity and smooth - probably best with food...and inexpensive....so good in fact we're ashamed to admit that your editor and his wife downed two bottles.
If you have the chance to pick up a bottle, we highly recommend it, especially for the cost.

How to Make the Best Use of the Internet
to Sell Your Art
By Steve Popkin
Dear {{FirstName}},
The internet has created a huge marketplace for all kinds of products, especially for artwork. Before you get suckered into creating an expensive website with a gallery that will be lost in cyberspace, keep the following in mind:
People will not be beating their way to your website. Literally billions of web pages exist on the internet at the time of this writing. Do a search on Google for your type of artwork and I can guarantee that several million pages will come up. Unless you plan on spending a fortune on advertising your site, you will be lost in cyberspace; so, how do we make the best use of the internet?
Think of the internet as a communication tool between you and your customers. I utilize the internet to drive my offline customers, in other words, people that I meet at art shows, galleries, referrals, to a place online where they can see more of my artwork in the comfort of their own home. Remember someone is viewing my website because they all ready have been exposed to my artwork and my website. Now once at my website, they can order directly online, in the comfort of their own home!
I also recommend that you cross market with other artists that work in the same genre as you. For example, if you specialize in landscapes oils try to connect with an artist that does landscape photography. In this way, you, the other artist and the customer all benefit.
In this strategy, you would connect with another artist and share your databases with one another. Again, you both own customer databases of customers that are interested in the same genre of artwork. Create email campaigns and offline advertising to include these new potential customers. By doing so, you will effectively broaden your exposure to a captive audience.
Definitively the one strategy that allows me to get the most out of the internet experience is called “the name squeeze.” Design your website so those that do visit want to leave their name and email address. Why would someone want to leave you their information? They will type their name and email address into the box provided in order to receive the wonderful free gift that you offer! I recommend that you create something to give away; something small and easy to ship, and obviously something indicative of your art.
Once you own their information, you will be on your way to building a list of thousands of potential customers. Remember each of them raised their hands and said “I am interested in what you create!”
Imagine, now when you create a piece of artwork you merely broadcast an announcement to your list, and get them excited about your new release!
This secret will help you sell everything that you create, for other secret techniques and tips on how to sell your artwork for maximum profits go to my web site by following the link below:

No Substitute for Good Customer Service, Revisited
Fiona Purdy Wrote:
I have to agree 100% with this post, when you give great customer
service people remember you. People love to be spoiled and treated like
royalty. And it doesn't cost anything either! The great service you
give will make you feel great too and will always come back to you in
one way or another.

How to Sell Your Art Without Selling Out
My
name is Steve Popkin and I’m a glass artist. I have been working with
glass for many years. More than likely you've never heard of me nor
seen any of my work and that's OK. Probably much like you, I have
always loved creating art. My dream as a child was to create great new
"masterpieces" in drawings, paintings, jewelry, photography, clay, etc.
After years of creating artwork
& selling it for less than what it cost me to make... or even
worse, giving it all away to family and friends...
I figured if I was going to sell my work I needed to invest the time,
money & research to do it right and discover the secrets of how
well-known artists made their name & living.
It took effort but I finally “Cracked Their Code" and figured out
Exactly how they did it and...I started doing it and making money!
My artist friends began questioning me . . .asking what I was doing
differently. It wasn't long before I realized there was a great want
& need for this knowledge.
I took everything I learned and organized it into an easy to
understand, step-by-step course any artist or craftsman could simply
apply and
become successful. . .

FOCAL POINT: meander
meander - To follow a winding and turning,
seemingly random or chaotic course. Curvatious windings or sinuosities, as of a
stream or path. May refer, in Greek art and architecture, to a fret or key
pattern.
Meanders are among the ten classes of
patterns.

How to Make a Living as an Artist
You have been told that it is impossible to make a living as an artist, but it is not!
It is already being done. I'm Colin Ruffell and I have been doing it
for many years, and so have my inner circle of friends and colleagues.
We share our secrets here with you in my book, 'How to make a living as
an artist'.
Facts:
* You could be a full time professional artist, like me with forty
years in my studio, and still going strong!
* You could be published worldwide.
* You could have regular exhibitions of your work in many countries on five continents.
* You could have international sales of your work grossing about half a million dollars a year.
* You could be your own boss, as an artist, and enjoy the good life.
* Like me.
"Hi
Colin, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I finally for once in my
life after reading the majority of your book, I finally feel like I
have a sense of direction now. I love the way your are very straight
forward and funny. I have tried to read other business books and talk
to other artists, but no one has given me a solid game plan. I have
been lost for 31 years. Thank you for helping find my way."
